PHNOM PENH: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, expressed his shock and condolences over the death of the former President of the Japanese Association of Cambodia and the founder of the BASSAC Scholarship Community, Koji Kanzaki.

In a letter to Koji Kanzaki's wife, Mrs Michiko Kanzaki, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences over the loss of her beloved husband. He added that Mr Koji Kanzaki was not only a good husband but also a good friend of Cambodia, who had spent about 38 years of his life strengthening Cambodia-Japan relations.

He recalled: "Even in his last days, he remained dedicated to the noble cause. During the courtesy call on me on 1st February 2022, he proposed to donate land to build a PKO park and offered his expertise on flood prevention in Cambodia."

Koji Kanzaki is the former President of the Japanese Association in Cambodia and the founder of the BASSAC Scholarship Community. He has contributed to the restoration and development of infrastructure in Cambodia and has also strengthened the education, culture and environment of Cambodia, such as planting trees, providing scholarships to children who are unable to go to school due to the economic situation of families and Helping to build schools through Lions Club activities.

Revenues from the Covid-19 vaccination fee collected by the Ministry of Health is recorded as national budget revenues.
